Tipping Point Tips ERP Musical Over
NY, NY | October 10, 2008 | Posted by Barren Wuffett
After a decade of adapting horrible Miller-Boyette TV shows and various Cannon Group films into stage musicals, Off-Broadway has finally turned to an exciting new source for material: the best-selling business book. And it appears this new genre’s first production, In the Key of ERP, may also be its first casualty.

Bulky Buy, Inc. today withdrew its funding from ERP and applied it to another production – David Mamet Presents Malcolm Gladwell’s Tipping Point The Musical. “When you’re paying to have an Off-Broadway musical made from a business book, you just can’t beat the Mamet/Gladwell combination,” said a spokesperson from Bulky Buy. “Just like you can’t beat Bulky Buy’s low, low prices for all your Halloween candy and costume needs!”

Sources inside In the Key of ERP insist that the show will go on with limited private funding, although some characters may need to be cut, in addition to the first and third acts.

Beleaguered Show’s Casting Woes No Big Surprise

After a widely documented stretch of investor flip-flopping, costly backstage fires, and bizarre costuming injuries, the Off-Broadway show In the Key of ERP ran into yet another potentially crippling pre-production snag this past week: Casting. The shows' producers have reportedly held 16 rounds of casting calls for the lead role of Anne Magnuson, auditioning nearly 1200 actresses and at least one male actor for the part. When asked about this latest delay and its impact on the show's rehearsal and opening schedules, a representative was quoted as saying "I’m not saying this show is cursed, so don’t quote me on that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the walls started bleeding soon… This is off the record, right?"
Off-Broadway Producer Recovering from Bookstore Tasering

A representative for Andrea McIntyre, Producer of the upcoming musical In the Key of ERP, is said to be making a quick recovery from a recent incident at a book signing at Schopenhauer’s BookHaus in Paramus last Friday. According to the Bergen County Police Report, Ms. McIntyre was in line to have a book signed by Cameron Bidwell, author of the bestseller Best Laid Plans: The ERP Imperative. However, after making direct eye contact with the author, and then refusing to leave the premises in an orderly fashion, she was repeatedly tasered by store security. Mr. Bidwell is known for his tight security and his security team has had a proclivity for tasers, rubber bullets and pepper spray at many of his recent book signings. "Our investors should rest assured Ms. McIntyre suffers no ill effects that would prevent her from returning to work," said the representative. "Other than vertigo, sensitive teeth and a slight bladder control problem."
Pembleton Theater New Home to In the Key of ERP

The producers of the new musical In the Key of ERP today announced they have chosen the historic Pembleton Theater as the venue for their production. The show had been in negotiations with the Winter Garden Theater, but after Sopranos: The Musical secured that venue with an undisclosed offer, and with the opening only two months away, the producers of In the Key of ERP chose the off-Broadway Pembleton, which seats 350. “It’s the perfect venue for us, because this story is too big, too important to be told on anything less than a small, intimate stage,” said Dick Bulkly III, lead financier of the musical production. "And with its recent renovations, the Pembleton is now in compliance with nearly all of the New York State safety and fire codes."
Author Reluctantly Licenses Rights to "Best Laid Plans",
Musical Production to Proceed

In a landmark move for musical theatre, best-selling author Cameron Bidwell has granted the exclusive stage rights to his international business bible Best Laid Plans: The ERP Imperative. When negotiations between Bidwell and the producers of the proposed production stalled, theatre experts believed the project to be dead. The independent production team is financially backed by the Bulkly family, the founders and current controllers of the Bulky Buy, Inc. (BLKY) retail empire. Eleventh hour talks between Bidwell and current CFO of Bulky Buy, Dick Bulkly III put the deal back on the table and ultimately resulted in limited exclusive rights to the book for the production. "We are extremely pleased to have been able to secure the rights to the book that we also backed. We're looking forward to bringing "Best Laid Plans" to life on the stage. Just like Wicked brought the book that Wicked was based on to the stage," said Bulkly.
